Summer of Golf: New Skills, New Friendships & Plenty of Fun

As we begin to wrap up the summer, we wanted to reflect on what a great summer it has been. The David Marshall Youth Golf Academy (DMYGA) Summer Camp, brought six weeks of golf, learning, laughter and new friendships.

This summer, we welcomed students from our regular programme alongside a fantastic group of new students from the National Sports Council.

For some of our new students, golf was a completely new experience. Over the six weeks, it was wonderful to see how quickly they took to the sport, developed their skills and grew in confidence. Their enthusiasm, willingness to learn and natural ability showed great promise, and we hope to see many of them continue their golf journey.

But Summer Camp was about more than learning the fundamentals of golf.

It was an opportunity for young people to try something new, build confidence, develop new skills and make friends. Our returning students welcomed new faces, and friendships quickly formed as everyone became part of the DMYGA community.

There were plenty of swings, plenty of learning and, most importantly, plenty of fun!

We are proud of all our young golfers and the progress they made throughout the six weeks. A special thank you to our National Sports Council participants for joining us this summer - we loved having you on the course and look forward to seeing where your golf journey takes you.

A New Term Begins!

With summer camp now complete, we're looking forward to the start of a brand-new term.

Our regular programme returns on:

  • Sunday 13 September 2026

  • 2:00pm–5:00pm

  • Barbados Golf Club

Whether you've been part of DMYGA for a while or you're interested in introducing your child to golf for the first time, we'd love to welcome you.

More Girls Golf Coming Soon!

Keep an eye out for announcements about our upcoming Girls Golf sessions.

We're passionate about creating opportunities for more girls to discover golf, develop their skills and confidence and enjoy everything the sport has to offer.

And we'd love to bring golf to you!

If your school is interested in introducing students to golf, get in touch with the DMYGA team about our school introductory golf sessions. These sessions are a great way for students to experience the sport in a fun, accessible and welcoming environment.

From the summer camp to the new term, we're excited to keep introducing more young people to the game and helping the next generation of Barbadian golfers grow.

Here's to another term of golf, growth, friendship and fun!
